Chris Lemmon
Actor, Producer and Author
Chris Lemmon has starred in over twenty-five feature films, including Just The Ticket, Lena's Holiday and That’s Life. He’s starred in television series for all major networks, including Knot’s Landing, Thunder In Paradise, Studio 59, Brothers & Sisters, and most notably Fox's highly acclaimed network-starting situation comedy Duet.
Lemmon graduated California Institute of the Arts with degrees in classical piano and composition, as well as degrees in the theatrical arts, and went on to appear in numerous stage productions, including the west-coast tour of Barefoot In The Park, directed by the late Jerry Paris, the original award winning west coast production of Shay by Anne Commire, and the highly successful Love Letters with Stephanie Zimbalast.
He presently resides in New England where he writes and produces feature films and television. Lemmon’s recently published memoir, A Twist of Lemmon, is a heartfelt tribute to his iconic father Jack Lemmon. When Jack Lemmon died in 2001, the world lost a two-time Oscar winner and perhaps the most beloved actor of his generation; but Chris Lemmon lost a father and a best friend. After Lemmon's parents divorced in 1956, he knew his famous father mainly through "play visits" and, later, yearly Alaskan fishing trips. But as he became an adult, his relationship with his father deepened, connecting them in unforeseen ways. In A Twist of Lemmon, Lemmon shares family tales, intimate father-son conversations, and anecdotes from and about his dad.
He is presently in pre-production for his film Publicity Stunt, which he wrote and produced, and in which he will star - Publicity Stunt will be helmed by Big Fat Greek Wedding director, Joel Zwick.
MOST REQUESTED TOPICS:
Memories
Though the crux of Chris Lemmon’s addresses are heart-felt reflections on family, relationships, love and loss, and the journey to find his own path in life form beneath his father’s iconic shadow - a path that is at the same time unique, yet identifiable - being a Lemmon, there is no shortage of humor. In fact, despite his far-reaching message, Lemmon’s audiences have repeatedly commented on what a joy it was to forget their troubles for a moment, and just laugh:
"I loved how down to earth Chris is. He really made me feel like he was talking just to me"
"Chris made you forget your worries for a few minutes and just smile"
"He brought laughter back into my life"
Cancer, And Dealing With Loss
Chris Lemmon is honored to be an official spokesperson for the American Cancer Society, and to do everything in his power to eradicate this disease that has effected so many:
"During my half-century with Pop, I’d felt just about every emotion a son could feel for his father, from love to hurt, from joy to anger. Over the course of those years I’d done things with him and gone places with him that left me with memories I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. And now, as I sat in that hospital room, watching the play of emotions on my father’s face, I knew I was about to go through the final experience saying goodbye. Cancer has to be one of the toughest ways to go - I knew that; I’d lost my mother to it thirteen years before. A tough and selfless woman, she’d been told she’d be lucky to live till September at the outside, but she’d wanted more than anything to celebrate one last Christmas, her favorite holiday, with her family, and that’s what she did - she passed the day after.
Off The Cuff
As an actor, writer, producer, and performer, and with a career of over thirty years in show biz, perhaps one of Chris Lemmon’s strongest attributes is his ability to entertain, personalize, and include his audience. His appearance is not a dry or brittle pre-rehearsed speech, but is a heartfelt chat specifically designed for each and every person, often times bringing him or her to tears and laughter simultaneously. And because of his highly diverse life he is able to cover a wide and varied range of topics and still remain totally identifiable to any audience, anywhere. From sit-com golf at the Pebble Beach Golf Tournament, to running from irate grizzly bears in the wilds of Alaska alongside his everyman father from incisive and detailed accounts of a life with Hollywood’s royals, to a one-on-one look into our own hearts an evening with Chris Lemmon is guaranteed to be unique.
