Chris Simms is a sports analyst and former professional football quarterback noted for his work both on and off the field. Simms' quarterbacking career began in high school, where he garnered the title of USA Today High School Football Offensive Player of the Year in 1998. His talent led him to the University of Texas at Austin, where he played college football from 1999 to 2002. His performance at the University was commendable, culminating in a record of 26–6, one of the highest win records at the time.

His abilities drew the attention of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who selected him in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. Simms played in the NFL for teams including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, and Tennessee Titans. Notably, he was a starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos in 2009.

After his playing career, Simms transitioned into coaching and analysis. He served as a coaching assistant for the New England Patriots in 2012, focusing on offensive quality control and scouting reports. Simms also explored commentating, joining Fox Sports for the 2013 college football season.

Simms' career as an analyst began with Bleacher Report in February 2014, and later he worked as a color commentator for the NFL on CBS from 2014 to 2016. He joined NBC Sports Group exclusively in March 2019, where he contributes to its NFL and college football coverages. Notably, Simms became a full-time employee of NBC in 2019, working as an analyst for "Football Night In America" and Notre Dame football, and co-hosting "ProFootballTalk Live".

In addition to these roles, Simms co-hosts the podcast "Chris Simms Unbuttoned." and also serves as a college football announcer, National Football League announcer, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football announcer. As of 2021, Simms began co-hosting Peacock's "Sunday Night Football Final" and in October 2022, he began appearing on a new NFL streaming show on Peacock after "Sunday Night Football".
