Retired NFL Quarterback, NFL & College Football Analyst for NBC Sports

Chris Simms has established himself as one of the brightest young football minds on television today.

Simms joined NBC Sports Group exclusively in March 2019 to contribute to its NFL and college football coverage across NBC Sports’ broadcast, cable, and digital platforms. Simms is currently an NFL and college football analyst across numerous NBC Sports programs and platforms. Simms is an analyst for Football Night in America, the most-watched studio show in sports, and Notre Dame Football, and co-hosts PFT Live with Mike Florio. Chris Simms Unbuttoned produces daily NFL and college football content exclusively for NBC Sports’ digital and social platforms.

Simms served as Lead NFL Analyst for Bleacher Report and it’s mobile app, “Team Stream” as well a co-host on the widely popular digital programs Simms & Lefkoe Podcast and Simms & Lefkoe: The Show.

Simms served as a Pregame Analyst for NBC’s Super Bowl LII Pre-Game Show and post-game coverage. Served as an Analyst on NBC’s Football Night in America pregame coverage for Week 10 and Week 16 Sunday Night Football of the 2017 season.

Previously Simms served as a Color Analyst for the NFL on CBS beginning in 2014. Simms made his debut in the broadcast booth on FOX Sports in August 2013 calling the West Virginia and College of William & Mary contest.

Simms was an eight-year NFL quarterback who played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2003-07), Tennessee Titans (2008, 2010) and the Denver Broncos (2009). During his Playoff debut in 2005, Simms guided the Buccaneers to an NFC South Championship, completing 25-38 pass attempts for 198 yards and a rushing touchdown. He played in 19 NFL games while starting 15 contests in his career.

Simms was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the NFL Draft out of the University of Texas. While in Austin, Simms established himself as one of the most productive signal callers in Texas Longhorns history. He played in 43 games and started 32 during his career while garnering over 7,000 passing yards and 58 touchdowns. He finished his standout career with the third best career winning percentage; third most career touchdowns; second most touchdowns in single season; and second most touchdowns in a single game in school history.

The Ridgewood, NJ-native was named the 1998 USA Today Player of the Year following his senior year gridiron campaign at Ramapo High School.

In March 2012, he was hired as a Coaching Assistant by the New England Patriots. Simms comes from a family rich in quarterback tradition as he is the son of New York Giants legendary quarterback Phil Simms and brother of New York Jets quarterback Matt Simms.

​In 2018, Simms was named number 1 High School Quarterback in New Jersey state history by NJ.com.

Simms and wife Danielle have two children and reside in Greenwich, CT.
