Christen Press
Professional Soccer Player in the National Women's Soccer League; Co-Founder of re—inc & Co-Host of "The RE—CAP Show" Podcast
Christen Press is a prominent American professional soccer player, entrepreneur, and sports journalist. Currently playing for Angel City FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), she has made a significant impact as a forward for the United States national team since her debut on February 9, 2013, in an international friendly against Scotland. Over her international career, Press has made 155 appearances and ranks ninth all-time in U.S. women's soccer history with 64 goals scored.
Press's soccer journey began at Stanford University, where she earned the prestigious Hermann Trophy in 2010, establishing herself as a standout collegiate athlete. She holds the all-time records for both scoring and assists for the Stanford Cardinal, solidifying her legacy at the university. Her professional career took off when she was selected fourth overall by the Washington Freedom in the 2011 Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) Draft. That same year, she was named WPS Rookie of the Year, marking the start of an impressive professional trajectory.
Her talent extended beyond U.S. borders, where she became the Damallsvenskan's top scorer in 2013 with 23 goals for Tyresö FF, becoming the first American to earn the Golden Boot in the history of the Swedish League. Throughout her career, Press has played for a variety of teams, including the Chicago Red Stars and Utah Royals in the NWSL, Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC and Tyresö FF in the Swedish Damallsvenskan, magicJack in the WPS, and Manchester United in the English FA Women's Super League.
Internationally, Press was a crucial part of the United States Women's National Team that secured titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups. Off the field, she has made her mark as an entrepreneur and advocate for gender equality. In 2019, she co-founded the gender-neutral lifestyle brand re—inc with fellow athletes Megan Rapinoe, Tobin Heath, and Meghan Klingenberg. Additionally, Press co-hosts "The RE—CAP Show" podcast with Tobin Heath, bringing her insights and experiences to a wider audience.
