Christopher G. Smith is the creator of Broadway’s first and only Christian musical, "Amazing Grace".
His work demonstrates that this "grace and gratitude" network is a powerful activator of key health markers, from blood pressure to heart rate variability, and contributes to the well-being of both individuals and communities. Smith, along with his team at "America Needs Grace," is at the forefront of integrating this emerging science with immersive audio technology and the power of music to develop the new Immersive Audio Experience™ platform.
In 2015, at the age of 46, Christopher made history as the first writer and creator to bring a true story of personal salvation to the Broadway stage. Without any formal training, professional experience, industry connections, or funding, he conceived the concept and wrote the music, lyrics, and libretto for "Amazing Grace", an epic musical saga about the life of John Newton, the slave trader turned evangelist who penned the world’s most beloved hymn, "Amazing Grace."
Christopher G. Smith has a Doctorate, Honoris Causa, from Eastern University where he also graduated with a BA in 1993.

The Brain's Amazing Science of Grace
In this keynote, the creator of Broadway’s first (and only) Christian musical, Amazing Grace, Christopher G. Smith inspires and edifies audiences with new cutting-edge discoveries that prove that grace and gratitude are written directly into the structure and function of the human brain. Furthermore, this “grace and gratitude” network is shown to be a potent activator of key markers of individual health (From blood pressure to HRV) and the health of communities. Chris and his team at “America Needs Grace” are working to integrate this emerging science together with immersive audio technology, and the power of music, to develop the new Immersive Audio Experience™ platform.
Impossible Dreams
This inspiring keynote is based on Broadway creator Christopher G. Smith’s upcoming book of the same name. Christopher shares how he, approaching the second half of life, decided to leave his life as a police officer and youth leader behind to pursue a vision of creating the world’s first Christian Broadway musical. He would do this despite the fact that he had: no professional experience, no training, no contacts in the industry, and no money. Even with these limitations in 2015 his show, Amazing Grace, opened on Broadway and achieved a 96% positive audience score. Christopher’s 18-year journey of faith will inspire anyone facing the ups-and-downs of pursuing what they are called to do.
The Best Investment You Will Ever Make
Learning to encourage the people around you is the lowest-cost, highest-yield investment in the world. Encouragement and appreciation have inspired some of history’s greatest achievements, many of which would not exist if someone hadn’t taken the time to build up another person. Developing a discipline of encouragement is a gift which can bless family, friends, co-workers, and strangers alike. Polymath and Broadway pioneer Christopher G. Smith dives into this fascinating subject with hands-on techniques and principles about how to keep your encouragement practice current, genuine, and effective.
Principled Collaboration
Broadway pioneer Christopher Smith shares powerful principles that enable collaboration without compromising your values. Whether you are guiding a team of hundreds or simply accomplishing a project with friends or family, these techniques can help you agree on the core goals and limits which allow all parties to feel respected, listened to, and willing to voice dissent. Properly managed conflict can be an incredibly dynamic and creative environment and building a structure of Principled Collaboration can make this process a reality.
