Pediatric Occupational Therapist, Child Development Professor, Author

Dr. Christy Isbell is a pediatric occupational therapist with more than twenty years of experience working with young children. She is professor of occupational therapy at Milligan College where she teaches graduate level child development, human development courses and pediatric occupational therapy courses. Isbell maintains a private practice, and her specialty is the treatment of young children with autism, sensory processing disorders or neurological disorders.

Isbell has authored five books for Gryphon House and published several articles on early childhood topics. She has presented nationally and regionally on topics related to sensory integration, autism spectrum disorders, fine motor development, and the design and implementation of inclusive early childhood environments.

Isbell’s books were written to educate early childhood teachers and parents and include "The Inclusive Learning Centers Book for Preschoolers with Special Needs" and "The Complete Learning Spaces Book for Infants and Toddlers". "Sensory Integration: A guide for preschool teachers" received the Early Childhood News Director’s Choice Award in 2008 and was co-authored with her mother Dr. Rebecca Isbell. Her most recent books are the award-winning, "Mighty Fine Motor Fun: Fine motor activities for preschoolers", and "Everyday Fun: Getting your young child ready for school".
