In 2001, Sports Speaker and MLB star CJ Wilson started the season in Pulaski of the Appalachian League before he was promoted to Single-A with the Savannah Sand Gnats. By late 2002, he moved through High-A Charlotte and into Double-A Tulsa.

Fast forward to 2010, where he returned to his past role as the starting pitcher with the Texas Rangers. CJ Wilson was a 2011 American League All Star after the Texas Rangers clinched the AL West. Ron Washington; the manager, announced CJ would be the ALDS game one starting pitcher. In 2011, CJ Wilson led the league in games started, was fourth in wins, fifth in win-loss percentage and sixth in strikeouts.

On December 8, 2011, Wilson agreed to a five year deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim only hours after Albert Pujols signed a record breaking ten year deal with the Angels.
