Cody Clark

Professional Magician & Autistic Self-Advocate

Cody Clark is a 30-year-old professional magician/autistic self-advocate from Louisville, KY. He was diagnosed with autism at 15 months of age and his parents were warned he’d never walk, talk, hold down jobs, or tell them he loved them. His parents' tenacity combined with therapy services received from autism specialists and at schools allowed him to surpass all expectations!

He shares his magic shows and talks for audiences ranging from public library patrons, K-12 students, college students, educators, and corporate employees how autism makes him see the world differently and that he and others with autism have similar life goals and desires as anyone else. His favorite type of audience, however, is when he gets to help others with disabilities become successful adults. His mission is to help people realize that differences like autism are nothing to be scared of – but rather a different way of thinking.

His past clients include major universities like University of Kentucky and Ohio State University, corporations like Energizer Batteries and Delta Faucet Company, and he’s even testified for the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Committee!

MAGI-TALKS

What is a Magi-Talk?

In each of Cody's magi-talks, magic routines, talking points, and calls to action intertwine to address the challenges people face at the workplace. We all want our employees to feel capable, supported, and able to succeed. Each of these magi-talks addresses different aspects of what it takes to make these goals happen for your team.

Magi-Talk Subjects Include -

Dis-Impos-Ability: When Cody was diagnosed with autism, the family doctor told his parents he’d never walk, talk, go to college, or even tell his parents he loved them. Over his 29 years of life, he’s proved every one of those prognoses wrong! He went from being non-verbal to never shutting up, had a wonderful childhood, got his college degree, and is now a small business owner. In this talk, he shows why disability does not mean impossibility. He’ll share the highlights of his experiences growing up autistic and the lessons any person can apply to their own life from his story.

Revealing the Secrets Behind Essential Skills: Cody will break the magician’s code by revealing some secrets, but not of magic tricks! Instead, he shares the secrets behind essential life skills. These sound simple, which is why no one teaches about them. Cody takes the mystery out of it by offering simple, easy to remember techniques to improve skill sets related to communication, workplace team building, personal responsibility, confidence, and persuasiveness among others which will allow your audience to make strides towards being successful employees.

MAGIC SHOWS

A Different Way of Thinking: Cody combines magic, comedy, and storytelling to share what living with autism is like for him. Starting with his initial diagnosis and ending with his college graduation, Cody places his routines within common life experiences. This shows how autism makes him different, yet not so different from most people. By the end of his show, you’ll see that autism’s nothing to be scared of, but simply a different way of thinking! Great for corporate DEI initiatives.

Gala/Banquet Magic Shows: Your employees work hard all year long. When it's time to celebrate, they want to relax and have fun. But you'd still like them to be inspired too. When I perform at corporate galas/industry conferences, this is the precise balance I strike! Your employees will laugh, gasp, and scream together over Cody's astonishing magic. Then his backstories of having to work twice as hard on these tricks because of his autism will sink in and make them want to work twice as hard themselves.
