Colin Jost
Actor, Comedian, & Writer at "Saturday Night Live" & "Weekend Update" Co-Anchor; Host, "Pop Culture Jeopardy"
Colin Jost is a comedian, actor, and writer primarily recognized for his work on “Saturday Night Live” (SNL). Serving as a staff writer since 2005, Jost's involvement diversified to include co-hosting "Weekend Update," a satirical news segment on SNL, alongside Michael Che from 2014. He also served as one of the show's co-head writers from 2012 to 2015 and again from 2017 up until 2022. His contributions to the show have earned him multiple Writers Guild of America Awards and nominations for several Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music, or Comedy Series. In 2021, Jost broke the record for most "Weekend Update" appearances, surpassing Seth Meyers.
Outside of SNL, Jost has made appearances in various television shows and movies, including a cameo in the 2024 film "Fly Me to the Moon," which starred his wife Scarlett Johansson, and the Universal wedding comedy "Worst Man." He also portrayed Pete Buttigieg on SNL during its 45th season. In 2020, Jost published a memoir titled “A Very Punchable Face,” which received praise for its humor and insight into his life and career and earned a spot on the New York Times Bestseller List.
Jost also ventured into game show hosting, appearing as the host of "Pop Culture Jeopardy" on Amazon Prime Video in 2024. The same year, Jost served as a correspondent for the Olympics surfing events in Tahiti, assigned by NBC Sports. He took on hosting duties for the Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2018 and the White House Correspondents' Dinner in April 2024. In 2019, Jost, along with Michael Che, appeared in WWE's Monday Night Raw events. Off the stage and screen, Jost co-purchased a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry boat with fellow comedian Pete Davidson in 2023.
Born in Staten Island, New York, Jost began his career in comedy while attending Harvard University, where he served as president of the Harvard Lampoon, a prestigious humor publication.
