Colin Quinn is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer hailing from Brooklyn, Park Slope. Beginning his career as the co-host of MTV's “Remote Control,” Quinn's persistence in the comedy industry has been unyielding. His notable contributions to comedy include his time on “Saturday Night Live” from 1995 to 2000, where he anchored the popular news parody segment Weekend Update and hosted Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn."
Quinn's comedic expertise also extends to Broadway and off-Broadway performances. He has written and performed in seven comedic one-man shows, including “Colin Quinn: An Irish Wake,” “Colin Quinn: Long Story Short,” which was also an HBO special, “Colin Quinn: Unconstitutional,” available on Netflix, and “Colin Quinn: The New York Story,” directed by Jerry Seinfeld, available on Netflix as well. His most recent one-man show, “Red State Blue State,” premiered to rave reviews at The Minetta Lane Theatre in New York in January 2019 and was adapted into CNN’s first comedy special in May 2019, later streaming on Netflix in August 2019.
Quinn's filmography is also extensive. He has acted in films such as A Night at the Roxbury, the Grown Ups films, Trainwreck, and most recently in Hubie Halloween in 2020. His work in Trainwreck led to the "Trainwreck Comedy Tour" and "Tour Talk with Judd Apatow and Colin Quinn." He is also set to appear in Adam Sandler’s upcoming Netflix comedy, featuring an all-star cast.
In addition to his numerous performances, Quinn has been recognised for his unique comedic style. Comedy Central placed him at No. 56 on their list of the 100 greatest stand-up comedians of all time. Irish America magazine also honored him as one of the Top 100 Irish Americans of the year in 2004 and 2011. Quinn's first book, “The Coloring Book,” is now available from Grand Central Publishing.
