Connie Mayo has a wealth of experience teaching grades 2-8 and has also served in the capacity of central office instructional supervisor, federal programs director, coordinator of professional development, and librarian.

Connie Mayo has a wealth of experience teaching grades 2-8 and has also served in the capacity of central office instructional supervisor, federal programs director, coordinator of professional development, and librarian. During her 30-year career, Connie Mayo has taught as an adjunct professor of graduate studies for two universities and worked with a number of school systems in the areas of Building Academic Vocabulary and instructional leadership, and she is currently director of elementary education for the Tennessee Department of Education. During Mayo's tenure with the state of Tennessee, she has worked with formative assessment design, instructional leadership, differentiated instruction, and academic vocabulary.

Mayo is an active member of the National Staff Development Council, the Tennessee Staff Development Council, and the Formative Assessment and Leadership cadres. Her early higher education degrees were from Austin Peay State University. Connie Mayo's PhD in educational leadership and organizational development was awarded by the University of Louisville.
