Philosopher, Professor, Political Activist & Author of "Race Matters"; 2024 People's Party Presidential Candidate

Dr. Cornel West is the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Chair at Union Theological Seminary. He is deeply engaged in teaching courses on the works of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Philosophy of Religion, African American Critical Thought, and a diverse array of subjects such as the classics, philosophy, politics, cultural theory, literature, and music. He is dedicated to perpetuating the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., emphasizing the importance of truth and justice in his teachings.

Dr. West is a former Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy at Harvard University and Professor Emeritus at Princeton University. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard in three years and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy at Princeton. His academic and professional journey reflects a commitment to exploring and understanding complex philosophical and social issues.

He has authored 20 books and edited 13, with notable works including "Race Matters," "Democracy Matters," and his memoir "Brother West: Living and Loving Out Loud." His latest publication, "Black Prophetic Fire," delves into the legacies of key African American leaders, further demonstrating his focus on historical impact and prophetic leadership. Additionally, West has collaborated with MasterClass.com to offer a range of courses, including a class on Empathy with Pharrell Williams, and a comprehensive class on Black History, Black Freedom, and Black Love. His educational efforts extend to a wide audience, aiming to inspire and provoke thoughtful discussions on significant cultural and philosophical topics.
