Creator of the Square of Excellence; Former President & CEO of Common Success; VP and Chief Nursing Officer, Mary Greeley Medical Center

Cory Geffre, BSN, MS, has served as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of the Mary Greeley Medical Center since January 2019. Prior to this, he was Vice President and Chief of Nursing at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, S.D, from 2016 to 2019. His previous positions include Cardio-Renal Services Nurse Manager at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital and sales representative and business growth specialist with Zimmer Biomet, a medical device manufacturer. He also operated his own consulting firm, which helped businesses with strategy, market innovation, growth and leadership development. As vice president and CNO at Mary Greeley, Geffre oversees the medical center’s inpatient and outpatient nursing services, including Cancer Services, Cardiology Services, Behavioral Health, Birthways, Emergency Department, Pharmacy, and Home Health and Hospice. He has an Associate Degree in Nursing from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Master of Science in Management, Strategy and Leadership from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University in East Lansing.

Geffre is the creator of the Square of Excellence and was the President and CEO of Common Success, LLC. Cory is also the founder of The Health care Excellence Academy and The Business Excellence Academy, both of which teach health and business professionals how to unlock maximum potential from their people, their organization and themselves. As creator of the Square of Excellence, Cory has now become one of the foremost thought leaders on healthcare, business & personal excellence.

Geffre authored the white paper titled the Square of Excellence for Health care. The Square of Excellence model, when applied to health care, helps health care organizations maximize talent, develop leaders, manage relationships and harvest innovation. Focusing on these four core areas, Cory's clients have experienced increased employee, physician and patient satisfaction, increase in community loyalty and support, increase in both revenue and savings. Since becoming a health care author, speaker and trainer, Cory has worked in or been a trainer for acute-care hospitals, specialty hospitals, medical groups, urgent care centers, skilled nursing facilities, home health, hospice, and outpatient facilities. Cory's health care & business career spans more than 20 years.
