Courtney Nelson is a Vice President at Coefficient Capital. Prior to Coefficient, Courtney was an Investor with BDMI, Bertelsmann’s Venture Capital fund.

At BDMI, Courtney was responsible for deal origination, transaction execution, portfolio management and thesis development. She was a board observer or adviser for companies including Food52, Clique Brands, The Athletic, Dashbot, ART19, Zergnet, Wibbitz, Inked Brands, Vemba, and Inverse. Courtney joined BDMI from Catalyst Investors, a NYC-based growth equity firm investing in technology-enabled businesses. Prior to joining Catalyst, she worked at Greenhill & Company in their Mergers & Acquisitions group, where she worked on transactions across various industries with an emphasis on consumer and retail. Her other prior work experience includes positions at Business Insider and Allen & Company. Courtney was recently named as one of Business Insider’s “30 and Under: Rising Stars in Venture.” She holds a bachelor’s degree from McGill University, with concentrations in Finance and French and a minor in European History.

Courtney serves as an alumni adviser for McGill and a mentor for BUILD, a non-profit dedicated to proving the power of experiential learning through entrepreneurship and empowering youth in under-resourced communities. She is on the Advisory Board for Venture For America, a non-profit dedicated to creating economic opportunity in American cities by mobilizing the next generation of entrepreneurs and equipping them with the skills and resources they need to create jobs.
