Few women in the past three decades have lit up the American imagination like Cybill Shepherd. From wholesome beauty queen to captivating cover girl, from heartbreaking movie star to one of television's most beloved comediennes, and from naive sex kitten to liberated, political spokeswoman, Shepherd has imbued these roles with an indomitable spirit that has made her a female icon to an entire generation.
Shepherd's career boasts a diverse array of roles in both television and film. She has guest-starred in shows such as "Drop Dead Diva," "Psych," "The Client List," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Her portrayal of Martha Stewart in NBC's highly rated telefilm "Martha Stewart, Inc." and her role in the two-part season finale of "Eight Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" on ABC captivated audiences. She also appeared in Hallmark Channel's miniseries "The Detective," starring opposite Tom Berenger and Annabeth Gish. From 1995-1998, she starred as Cybill Sheridan in the popular CBS sitcom "Cybill," where she also served as executive producer.
In her personal life and through her art, Shepherd has been a staunch advocate for LGBT equality, recognized with a GLAAD Media award in 2010 for her efforts. Her book, "Cybill Disobedience: How I Survived Beauty Pageants, Elvis, Sex, Bruce Willis, Lies, Marriage, Motherhood, Hollywood, and the Irrepressible Urge to Say What I Think," published in 2001, offers an insightful and humorous look at her life and career. Additionally, Shepherd’s musical talents have led to nine albums, including her most recent "Live at the Cinegrill." Her extensive theatrical experience includes starring roles in productions such as "Shot in the Dark," and "The Seven Year Itch." Throughout her career, Shepherd has been lauded with four Golden Globe Awards for best actress in a television comedy, four People's Choice Awards, and a shared accolade with Bruce Willis as "Woman and Man of the Year in Broadcasting" by the Hollywood Radio and Television Society.
