D. Michael Goedecke  

Research statistician at RTI International and a nonresident fellow

Michael Goedecke is a research statistician at RTI International and a nonresident fellow in the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution. His research interest is in the mathematical modeling of biological systems. His recent work has focused on the epidemiology of both infectious and chronic diseases, including influenza, smallpox and HIV.

Prior to joining RTI International in 2005, he worked in the field of microbial fermentation for the biotechnology firm Amgen, Inc., both in commercial manufacturing and in process development.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the California Institute of Technology, and earned his master’s degree and PhD in biomathematics from North Carolina State University.
