Actress known for prominent work in theatre and her role as Frieda on "Orange is the New Black"
Theatre includes: Her most recent Broadway show was the new musical, Hands on a Hardbody (Janice Curtis, Neil Pepe dir. Trey Anastasio and Amanda Green music and lyrics.), Grey Gardens (covering and playing Edith Bouvier Beale, Michael Greif dir.), The Crucible (Sarah Good, Richard Eyre dir. with Liam Neeson and Laura Linney), Whose Life Is It Anyway, The Magic Show (Cal) co-starring with magician Doug Henning and introducing Stephen Schwartz’s songs “Lion Tamer” and “West End Avenue;" Dude (Shadow), Broadway: debut in the landmark musical Hair (Jeanie);
Off-Broadway: Dale most recently appeared in Douglas Carter Beane's new play, Shows for Days at Lincoln Center Theater. This past spring, she was in Doug Wright's Posterity at the Atlantic Theatre Company. She also recently co-starred with the all female cast of I Remember Mama as Papa, Arne and Dr. Johnson (Judson Gym, produced by the Transport Group, Jack Cummings III, dir. Ben Brantley's Top 10 of 2014 in The New York Times). Additional credits include Anna Capeable in The Capables (also at the Judson Gym); Marsha Norman’s Getting Out (Arlene); Real Life Funnies (multiple characters Manhatten Theatre Club); Jet Lag (Builders Association in NY and international tour); The Joy of Going Somewhere Definite,Blithe Spirit and The Water Engine (Atlantic Theatre Co.); Pericles (Red Bull); Wapato (Women's Project) and many productions with The Public Theatre, MTC, Mabou Mines, and Lincoln Center, as well as countless workshops, and readings.
Regional: Hands On A Hardbody and Paris Commune (La Jolla Playhouse); Candide(Guthrie); Macbeth and Karen Hartman's Gum (Center Stage); Romeo and Juliet (Dartmouth); All’s Well That Ends Well (Yale Rep.); Well (Vermont Stage); Doubt (Gulfshore Playhouse); Grey Gardens (Edith Bouvier Beale) and Gather By The River both at Theatre Works.
TV/Film: Orange is the New Black (Frieda Berlin on Netflix), American Playhouse (Until She Talks, The Grapes of Wrath), Sesame Street, Maurice Sendack’s Really Rosie, Law & Order: CI, The Messenger, Unforgettable and Motherhood.
Awards: New Dramatists (for dedication to new work and extraordinary contribution to theatre), SUNY (Richard Porter Leach Fellowship). Ms. Soules is a teacher, oral historian and a Usual Suspect with NYTW.
