Author, Former US Marine Corps Captain, US Secret Service Special Agent & Member of the CIA

Dan Emmett earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from North Georgia College and a master’s degree in education from Troy University.

After serving four years on active duty as a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps, Dan joined the United States Secret Service as a special agent in the Charlotte field office. There, and later in the New York field office, he helped carry out the investigative mission of the Secret Service.

Dan was then selected to become a member of the elite Counter Assault Team (CAT), one of the most prestigious and rigorous assignments in the Secret Service. After distinguishing himself in CAT as a team leader he was selected for the most coveted of all assignments in the Secret Service, the Presidential Protective Division. On PPD Dan provided “arms length” protection to presidents: George H. Bush and William Jefferson Clinton.

After PPD Dan spent the next several years as an instructor training new agents before being promoted and returning to PPD as an Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge. Here he protected his third sitting president, George W. Bush.

After 21 years as an agent, Dan retired from the Secret Service and was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as a Special Skills Officer in the National Clandestine Service. After serving in the Counterintelligence center, Dan was promoted to the position of Deputy Branch Chief in the Counterterrorism Center where he served both at CIA headquarters and Afghanistan.

Today Dan is an adjunct professor as well as an author and a security consultant for both private industry and the United States Government.
