Dan Shulman

Former President and CEO of Priceline.com

One of the most successful chief executives in the fiercely competitive e-commerce arena, Dan Shulman brought the experience culled from a long career of organizing, focusing and growing business to his post as President and CEO of Priceline.com.

Formerly at the helm of the company that revolutionized the consumer experience, he set his sights on making Priceline.com America’s premier blue chip e-commerce company.

Shulman guided Priceline.com to consistent ratings as one of the world’s top three e-tailers along with Amazon and E-Bay.

With his finger on the pulse of the Internet industry, Shulman exploded Priceline.com’s revenues from $111 million in the second quarter 1999 to over $313 million in the first quarter 2000, all while growing its customer base from 2 million to 5.3 million loyal Priceline.com users.

Shulman also serves as a director of iVillage, the number one destination for women on the web; Net2Phone, Inc., the leading provider of Internet protocol telecommunications services; and Symantec, a cutting edge Internet security software company.

He is also reaching out to the offline community as a director for Teach for America, an organization focused on providing quality education for urban and inner city children.

At the lecture podium, Shulman delivers an insightful perspective on building a successful and stable Internet entity.

Shulman discusses the “virtual” business model employed by Priceline.com, which empowers the consumer base and meets their growing expectations.

He guides other companies through strategies for capitalizing on the new consumer-empowered economy, including implementing organizational structures that allow your customers to tell you want they want.

Shulman also discusses the new forces of mass marketing, where creativity can offer the biggest boost in bottom line.

In the volatile and competitive new economy, the lessons he teaches are vital for creating a recognized brand, both online and off.
