With extensive legal expertise and a passion for renewable energy, Dan W. Reicher has established a considerable presence in the field of energy policy. His experience spans numerous roles, including the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Energy during the Clinton Administration, the Director of Climate Change and Energy Initiatives at Google, and his current role as the Executive Director of the Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance at Stanford University. He also served as an advisor to the 2008 Obama campaign and was a member of the subsequent transition team. Furthermore, he contributed to the energy sector through his positions at New Energy Capital and Northern Power Systems, and his work as a senior attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Reicher's influence in the energy sector has been acknowledged with significant recognition. He was named one of the five most influential figures in U.S. clean energy by Oilprice.com and was honored with an honorary doctorate from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2012. Additionally, he has been involved in numerous boards, such as the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board, the National Academy of Sciences Board on Energy and Environmental Systems, and the American Council on Renewable Energy. His global impact is highlighted by his involvement in a National Geographic-sponsored expedition that navigated the entire 1888 mile Rio Grande and being a part of the first group to kayak the Yangtze River in China.

Alongside his policy contributions, Reicher is dedicated to education and mentorship. At Stanford University, he co-teaches a graduate-level class on clean technology and a seminar on the Chinese solar industry. His academic background includes a B.A. in Biology from Dartmouth College, a J.D. from Stanford Law School, and studies at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and MIT. the couple's commitment to environmental issues.
