Dana Thomas is a fashion and culture journalist, author, and screenwriter based in Paris. She is a regular contributor to The New York Times Style section and was the European Sustainability Editor for British Vogue. Thomas began her journalism career in 1988 with The Washington Post's Style section and later served as a cultural and fashion correspondent for Newsweek in Paris for 15 years.

Thomas has authored several notable books, including the New York Times bestseller "Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster," which examines the transformation of the luxury goods industry; "Gods and Kings: The Rise and Fall of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano," a dual biography of two influential British fashion designers; "Fashionopolis: The Price of Fast Fashion and the Future of Clothes," an investigation into the environmental and social impacts of the fashion industry; and "Fashionopolis" Young Readers Edition.

In addition to her writing, Thomas wrote the screenplay for "Salvatore: Shoemaker of Dreams," a feature-length documentary directed by Luca Guadagnino that premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2020. She is also the former host of The Green Dream, a podcast focused on sustainability and human rights.

Throughout her career, Thomas has contributed to numerous prestigious publications, including The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Architectural Digest. Her work has been recognized with several honors, such as the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation’s Ellis Haller Award for Outstanding Achievement in Journalism in 1987 and being named a Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Minister of Culture in 2016.
