Emmy Award-Winning Children’s Book Author & Media Creator Known for " Prince & Knight"
Daniel Haack is an Emmy Award-winning children’s book author and media creator. His debut book was "Prince & Knight," an LGBTQ-themed fairy tale picture book published worldwide by Little Bee Books. "Prince & Knight" was illustrated by Stevie Lewis and was an ALA Rainbow List Top Ten book, a Goodreads Choice Awards nominee and was named one of the best children’s books of 2018 by Amazon, Kirkus Reviews and the Chicago Tribune. Most recently, it was named as one of the Top Ten Most Challenged Books of 2019 and one of the Top 100 Most Banned and Challenged Books of the Decade by the American Library Association’s Office of Intellectual Freedom.
A companion book, "Maiden & Princess," co-written with Isabel Galupo and illustrated by Becca Human, was released April 2019 and was named by Book Riot as one of the best books of 2019. A new sequel, "Prince & Knight: Tale of the Shadow King," was released April 2021. He also wrote the two-part "How Felix Found His Moxie" for Wondery’s "Little Stories Everywhere" podcast available on all major audio streaming platforms.

Haack is currently a creative executive of kids and family programming for YouTube Originals, where he has developed and/or been creative lead for YouTube for projects including Super Sema, Coyote Peterson’s Wild Field Trip, BookTube Jr., Kid Correspondent, Pinkfong Wonderstar, Onyx Family Dinner, Buster Saves Christmas, The Guava Juice Show, Corpse Talk, Jam Van, the Webby Award-winning Lockdown and many more yet to be announced.
After beginning his career in New York in advertising, Haack moved to Los Angeles to lead marketing and digital product for the children’s media franchise StoryBots, best known for the Netflix original series, "Ask the StoryBots" and "StoryBots Super Songs." As a producer of StoryBots' digital platforms, Haack won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Interactive Media, received two additional nominations in the same category and was a Webby Award nominee in the Websites - Youth and Video Channels - Animation categories.
He is a graduate of the technology, innovation and education (TIE) Ed.M. program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, where he studied as a Saul Zaentz Fellow. He attended Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications as a Park Scholar and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in integrated marketing communications and international communications. In 2019, he received the college’s Young Alumni Award.
A two-time cancer survivor, Haack sat on the executive leadership committee for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's NYC Light the Night Walk, raising more than $30,000 for the organization. He recently served on the Ithaca College Annual Fund Young Alumni Committee and is a member of the Ithaca College Blue & Gold Society. In April 2018, he ran 20+ miles for a Ragnar Relay, serving as team captain and raising more than $11,000 for Stupid Cancer.
Haack has been interviewed by The New York Times, Channel 4 News, Huffington Post, GLAAD, Celebrity Page TV, Yahoo News, and more, and has been published by Adweek, Common Dreams, CounterPunch, The Ithaca Journal and in "Censored 2010: The Top 25 Censored Stories of 2008-09."
He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
