Danilo Gallinari is an Italian professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). After spending his first four years as a professional in his native Italy, Gallinari was drafted sixth overall in the 2008 NBA draft by the New York Knicks. He played with the Knicks for two and a half seasons before being traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2011. He has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Atlanta Hawks, the Washington Wizards and the Detroit Pistons.
Born in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano in 1988, many would say he was destined for basketball greatness coming from a family with 2 former professional basketball playing parents
His younger brother Federico was born nine years later, who Danilo is very fond of. He spent his first three years of life in Bologna (now defined by everybody the "city of basketball" ...), then moved to Verona for a year and then two more years in Livorno. It 's just in Livorno that Danilo took his first steps on the basketball courts. His school career began at the Elementary School "G. Galilei" in Graffignana (LO), where his family lived. After five years of elementary school, to meet his basketball needs and for logistical reasons, he enrolled at the school "Ada Negri" in Lodi: here he lived with his maternal grandparents with whom Danilo is particularly fond.
By choosing to pursue his passion for basketball, he moved in Codogno (LO), attending the High School "Novello" for three years. The following passage to the Pavia Edimes led him to attend the fourth year in high school "Copernicus." Danilo graduated in 2007 at the Studium Institute of Milan with a score of 70/100. He decided to continue his studies and he enrolled at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan to the degree course in Human Sciences and Philosophy. He made his debut in Serie A in the 2006-2007 season with Olimpia Milano with which the following year he also competed in the Euroleague. In April 2008, he declared eligible for the NBA Draft. In June, at the NBA draft, he was called to the sixth overall pick by the New York Knicks of coach Mike D'Antoni. After two years and a half, in February 2011, he began a new challenge: in Denver, where he represents the first offensive option of the Nuggets, with which is still under contract. In September 2011, he signed an agreement with Olimpia Milano EA7 until the end of the NBA lockout.
