Darío Gil is senior vice president and director of IBM Research at IBM. He leads the corporate research lab’s innovation strategies in hybrid cloud, AI, quantum computing, and exploratory science. Gil is also responsible for IBM's intellectual property strategy and business. An advocate of collaborative research models, he co-chairs the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, advancing fundamental AI research to benefit industry and society, and the COVID-19 High-Performance Computing Consortium, providing access to the world’s most powerful computing resources in support of COVID-19 research. Gil is a member of the governing body of the National Science Foundation, New York Academy of Sciences Board of Governors, and New York Hall of Science Board of Trustees.
