Darren Spedale is the Founder of FamilyByDesign, the Community for Parenting Partnerships.

Darren is also the Founder of StartOut, the national organization for entrepreneurs in the LGBT community. StartOut currently has approximately 5,000 participants nationwide.

Previously, Darren was the co-founder of A-List Global Media, a media/entertainment company focused on the "tween" market, as well as an earlier startup that focused on helping nonprofits boost their fundraising capabilities.

Darren received his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, his JD from Stanford Law School, and his BA from Duke University.

In 1997, Darren was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to research modern family structures in Northern Europe, where he worked with governments, NGOs, and many dozens of couples living in non-traditional family relationships to understand what the needs of non-traditional families are, and what the United States could learn from how non-traditional families were being recognized abroad. Based on a subset of this research, Darren published the book Gay Marriage: For Better or for Worse?: What We've Learned from the Evidence in 2007.
