Former Congressional Representative of Michigan

David Lee "Dave" Camp was previously a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives and represented Michigan's 4th Congressional District. Camp was first elected to the House in 1990.

Camp was born in 1953 in Midland, Michigan. After graduating from Midland Dow High School, Camp went on to earn his B.A. from Albion College in 1975 and his J.D. from San Diego University Law School in 1978. Prior to his political career, Camp worked as an attorney. On March 31, 2014, Camp announced that he would not seek re-election to the U.S. House in 2014. Camp was previously considered a potential candidate for the Michigan Senate seat. He announced in August 2013 that he would not seek the open seat.

Camp began his legislative career in the Michigan House of Representatives, where he served from 1989 to 1990. Prior to that he was a member of the staff of U.S. Rep. Bill Schuette.
