Manager of the Washington Nationals

Dave Martinez is an American professional baseball coach, former professional football player who was an outfielder, and the current manager of the Washington Nationals of the MLB. Martinez was born in Brooklyn, New York, and he began his career playing baseball in high school where he helped them to win the Five Star Conference championship. Martinez went on to play college baseball at Valencia Community College before being selected by the Chicago Cubs of the MLB draft. He went on to sign and play for Class A and Class AAA teams before being promoted to play for the Cubs. Over the course of his professional career, Martinez played for teams which include the Montreal Expos, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Atlanta Braves. As a player, Martinez had a .276 batting average, had 91 total home runs, and 580 runs batted in. After retiring as a player, Martinez went on to begin coaching for the Tampa Bay Rays and then began coaching the Chicago Cubs. During his time with the Cubs, he helped them to win the World Series championship. Since working as the manager of the Washington Nationals, he helped them to win a World Series championship as well.
