Mr. David B. Singer is Managing Partner of Maverick Capital Ventures. Mr. Singer is a Limited Partner at Maverick Capital Ltd. Mr. Singer is responsible for Maverick's Private Investments globally. He joined Maverick in 2004 from Oscient Pharmaceutical Corporation. He is co-founder of Affymetrix, Inc. He founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of GeneSoft Pharmaceuticals Inc., from September 1998 to February 2004. He began his career at Baxter International and worked at Goldman Sachs & Co. From May 1996 to July 1998, he served as a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Heartport Inc. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Affymetrix Inc., from 1993 to June 1995. Mr. Singer co-founded Corcept Therapeutics Inc., and served as its Chief Executive Officer. He served as the Chairman of Oscient Pharmaceuticals Corp., since February 2004. He served as Chairman of GeneSoft Pharmaceuticals Inc. from January 2001 to February 2004. He served as a Vice Chairman of Affymetrix Inc., from July 1995 to April 1996. Mr. Singer serves as a Director of Xoft Inc., and Spiracur Inc. He has been a Director of Castlight Health, Inc. since June 2010, Science Exchange, Inc. since March 23, 2016. He serves as a Director at imPower Health, Inc., Physician Dynamics Inc., Uptake Medical Corp. and Nodality Inc. He serves on the boards of several private companies in the fields of healthcare information technology, healthcare delivery and biotechnology. Mr. Singer was on the Rand Corporation's Health Advisory Board. He served as a Director at Ambrx, Inc. since April 8, 2005. Mr. Singer served as a Director at MitralSolutions, Inc., Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc., from 2006 to May 21, 2013; Perputo, Inc. since March 2, 2006; Affymetrix Inc., from February 1993 to June 2008 and Corcept Therapeutics Incorporated since August 1998. He served as a Director of Loopt, LLC. In July 2013, he was appointed by the Mayor of San Francisco to be a Health Commissioner. He is a Sterling Fellow of Yale University and a Director of College Track. He was a Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute. Mr. Singer holds a B.A. degree from Yale University and an M.B.A. degree from Stanford University.
