David Gira graduated from Duke University’s Divinity School in 2005, where he received his Master of Divinity with honors. He is an ordained elder of the United Methodist Church and member of the North Carolina Annual Conference. He has eighteen years of pastoral and church leadership experience.

Since being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2017, he has devoted his ministry to supporting cancer patients and their loved ones. He is a frequent blogger and now a published author. His book, "How Cancer Cured Me," was published 8/25/20.

He and his wife Amy have been married for twenty-five years and have three children. They currently reside in Raleigh, North Carolina.
