Actor & Comedian Known for "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," "The Office" & "The Goldbergs"

David Koechner is an actor and comedian with a range of roles in well-known comedy films and television shows. After studying at the University of Missouri, Koechner moved to Chicago, where he began his career in improvisational comedy at ImprovOlympic and was part of the Second City Northwest. His big break came in the mid-1990s when he joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live" for the 1995-1996 season. He was also a sketch regular on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" in the mid-1990s.

In 1997, Koechner relocated to Los Angeles, where he appeared in films such as "Wag the Dog" and "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me." His breakout film role came in 2004 when he portrayed the sportscaster Champ Kind in the hit comedy "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," alongside Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, and Paul Rudd. This role earned him two MTV Movie Award nominations for Best On-Screen Team and Best Musical Performance. He reprised the role in the 2013 sequel, "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues."

Television has also been a successful platform for Koechner. He had a recurring role as Todd Packer on NBC's "The Office," appeared in sitcoms "Bless This Mess" and "Superior Donuts," and had recurring roles on "Another Period" and the reboot of "Twin Peaks." He starred in the Comedy Central series "Another Period" and recurred as Bill Lewis on "The Goldbergs." Recently, he played Greg Sutter in "Justified: City Primeval" in 2023 and voiced Poseidon in "Krapopolis" from 2023 to 2024.

Koechner's versatility extends to voice acting, providing the voice for Dick Reynolds on "American Dad!" and characters on "F is for Family." He also had a stint performing in the comedy duo The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show with David 'Gruber' Allen, which became a TV series on Comedy Central in 2007. Apart from his television and film work, Koechner performs regularly in Los Angeles comedy clubs.

Though known primarily for his comedic roles, Koechner has shown his acting range by taking on more dramatic parts, such as his 2016 performance in the drama "Priceless," a film about human trafficking. Koechner's career spans over three decades, during which he has remained a consistent and active presence in Hollywood. He has not shied away from discussing his personal struggles, including his journey towards sobriety.
