David Nasser

Pastor, Speaker & Author; SVP for Spiritual Development at Liberty University

David Nasser was born in Iran but left the country with his family at age 9 during the Iranian Revolution in 1979. After almost a year in exile, his family moved to America. At age 18, he rejected his Muslim heritage and became a Christian. Now, David believes that God has purposed David to reach the high tech, attention-lacking culture of Generation Next. Involved in revivals, citywide rallies, camps and school assemblies, David speaks to over 700,000 people each year.

In 2014, a new chapter started in David’s life - overseeing Liberty University’s Office of Spiritual Development, including Convocation, North America’s largest weekly gathering of young people, LU Send, LU Serve, LU Shepherd, LU Stages, the Worship Collective, and the Office of Online Engagement. He oversees a team that advances Liberty’s mission by strengthening the theological foundation of the student body and its leaders through gatherings such as Convocation and Campus Community. He steers the discipleship process of seeing students come to Christ and grow in their faith and will mobilize students and faculty to reach the world for Christ through the global studies degree program, humanitarian efforts, church planting, and cohesive ministry partnerships.

Before coming to Liberty, he founded David Nasser Outreach and Christ City Church near Birmingham, Ala., where he served as lead pastor. The heart's cry of his ministry, David Nasser Outreach, was to effectively present the same relevant message, the Gospel of Christ, using fresh, innovative methods and resources. DNO worked extensively with ministries such as BGA, Youth Specialties, Student Life, Acquire the Fire and many others. David also regularly presents anti-substance abuse programs to youth in schools all over the country.

David co-produced a CD entitled Glory Revealed, a popular multi-artist worship project with lyrics taken entirely from Scripture; David even co-wrote one of the album’s songs, “By His Wounds,” and garnered a Dove Award for it in 2008. David also wrote a coordinating devotional book entitled, Glory Revealed: How the Invisible God Makes Himself Known. His two self-published books, A Call to Die and A Call to Grace, have sold more than 150,000 copies combined.
