David Ortiz

Former MLB Player, 3-Time World Series Champion & 10-Time All-Star; Founder of Papi Cannabis & Fox Sports Analyst

David Ortiz, a Dominican-American former professional baseball player, enjoyed a 20-season career in Major League Baseball from 1997 to 2016. Ortiz made a name for himself primarily with the Boston Red Sox, where he played a leading role in ending the Red Sox's 86-year World Series championship drought in 2004. This marked the beginning of a triumphant period for Ortiz and the Red Sox, as they went on to win the World Series Championships again in 2007 and 2013, with Ortiz named the World Series Most Valuable Player in 2013. Throughout his illustrious career, Ortiz was a 10-time All-Star and a 7-time Silver Slugger winner. In 2022, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Ortiz, often referred to as one of the greatest designated hitters of all time, set major league records for career home runs (485), RBIs (1,569), and hits (2,192) as a DH. His prowess on the field was recognized when he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022. Apart from his regular season accomplishments, Ortiz also demonstrated his clutch-hitting ability in the postseason, hitting 11 career walk-off home runs during the regular season and two during the 2004 postseason.

Off the field, Ortiz has remained active and involved in numerous initiatives. After his retirement, Ortiz ventured into broadcasting and joined MLB on Fox as a part-time sports analyst in 2017. He also hosted a podcast titled "David Ortiz: The Big Papi Story" in 2018. Additionally, Ortiz launched his "Papi Cannabis" line of cannabis products in collaboration with the company Rev Brands. Despite his personal achievements and the accolades he has received, Ortiz's greatest legacy may well be his impact on the game of baseball and the indelible mark he left on the Boston Red Sox, for whom he now serves as an ambassador.
