David Silverberg is author of the book Congress for Dummies, a clear, simple guide to the workings of Congress.

A veteran Washington journalist, Silverberg is an experienced public speaker and has made numerous appearances on television and radio including shows such as the Newshour with Jim Lehrer, CNN, C-SPAN's "American Journal" and NPR's "All Things Considered." In the Washington, DC area, he is a frequent guest on News Channel 8's "Newstalk" and "Federal News Today" shows. He has also served as a freelance radio report for WAMU-FM. He has spoken at numerous conventions, conferences and seminars.

Silverberg is an excellent speaker for groups coming to Washington to lobby Congress. As a Dummies author, he is especially effective in providing basic information on congressional procedure and practice in clear, easily understood terms to audiences unfamiliar with the institution. Because Congress for Dummies is a non-partisan book, he can provide objective information and advice without ideological or political bias.

Silverberg has long experience as a Washington journalist and was serving as managing editor of The Hill, a weekly newspaper covering congressional affairs, in 2002 when he wrote and published Congress for Dummies.

Silverberg also has expertise in defense, foreign affairs and homeland security. In 2004 he was the founding editor of HSToday magazine, which is today the leading independent  monthly magazine on homeland security and which he continues to edit and manage.
