David Sproxton

Co-Founder of Aardman Animations, the Company Behind "Wallace & Gromit" & "Shaun the Sheep"

David Sproxton is a British animator, director, and producer who cofounded Aardman Animations in 1972. The studio produces stop-motion animated films usually with claymation puppets, and is behind such critically acclaimed films as Chicken Run, Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Flushed Away, and Shaun the Sheep Movie, along with numerous TV projects and commercials. Sproxton has overseen Aardman’s expansion in VR and gaming—in 2018 it released its first console game, 11:11 Memories Retold, set in World War I—and along with cofounder Peter Lord, has transformed the company into an employee-led organization. In 2018, the cofounders handed over a 75% stake in Aardman to the company’s 140 employees in order to establish more creative and financial independence for Aardman, which is one of the few stand-alone film production companies. Sproxton is an executive producer on the 2019 Aardman film Shaun the Sheep: Farmageddon.
