David Teten is CEO of Teten Advisors, which specializes in advising companies and institutional investors on investing in private companies, executive optimization and recruiting, and due diligence.
David Teten is CEO of Teten Advisors, which specializes in advising companies and institutional investors on investing in private companies, executive optimization and recruiting, and due diligence. He was most recently a managing director with Evalueserve, a 2,500 global research and analytics company. David was previously founder and CEO of Circle of Experts, an investment research firm acquired by Evalueserve. He was also formerly founder and CEO of an investment bank serving the internet domain name asset class, which he built to 450 customers. He worked with Bear Stearns’ Investment Banking division as a member of their technology/defense mergers and acquisitions team, and was a strategy consultant with Mars & Co. David holds a Harvard MBA and a Yale BA, both with honors.
David has keynoted for some of the largest conferences in the finance industry (Association for Corporate Growth; IRC Alternative Investment Summit; World Hedge Funds Summit); some of the leading companies (Franklin Templeton); other executive events (Vistage, CEO Trust); and universities (Columbia Business School, Yale SOM, NYU, Princeton, Wharton). He has three times received the highest ratings of any speaker at a conference.
David is the lead author of The Virtual Handshake: Opening Doors and Closing Deals Online. The Virtual Handshake is the first business book about how you can win new clients, originate investment opportunities, and raise capital with online networks, blogs, and other Web 2.0 technologies. He also is the lead author of the first-ever research study on best practices of investors in sourcing investments in private companies, published in Harvard Business Review, Institutional Investor, Journal of Private Equity, and Mergers & Acquisitions magazine.
