John "David" Thompson is executive vice president of global operations and chief information officer at Western Union. He is responsible for building and developing the IT infrastructure to support the next generation of payment products and services and for maximizing efficiency, quality and customer delivery for the company's locations in 200 countries and territories. Thompson, who has more than 20 years of experience in the high-tech industry, previously was group president for services and support and global CIO of Symantec Corp. Earlier he served as Symantec's executive vice president and chief information officer. He also was senior vice president and chief information officer for Oracle Corp. and vice president of services and chief information officer at PeopleSoft, Inc. Thompson is a director of CoreSite Realty Corp. He studied at Marymount University in Arlington, Va., and American University in Washington, D.C.
