David Callaway is actively engaged in the fields of disaster preparedness, crisis response and unconventional diplomacy. He is the Founder and Director of Operational Medicine International (OMI), an organization that provides critical mission support and training to medical personnel, humanitarians, first responders and disaster response personnel. Currently, OMI is facilitating a public-private partnership to create technologically advanced disaster medical response units powered by distributed generation power sources. Callaway feels strongly about community service and holds leadership positions in several non- profits that work at the intersection of health and conflict, including Carolina for Kibera and the Operational Medicine Institute. He holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is the Medical Director for Carolinas MED-1.
