Davis Reuben Sekamwa

Climate Activist, Project Manager in the RiseUp Movement & Co-Founder of 1 Million Activist Stories

Davis Reuben Sekamwa is a climate activist and energy advocate based in Uganda. He started his activism in 2019 by spreading awareness about energy poverty and energy illiteracy in rural schools and under–served communities. He co-founded 1 Million Activist Stories, a blog aimed to spread experiences about different activists.

Sekamwa works as a Project Manager in the RiseUp Movement, which promotes energy access to village schools by providing solar panels and clean cooking technology. The RiseUp Movement started a grassroots resilience campaign where eco-friendly institutional stoves have been provided to 11 schools so far in the rural communities that rely on wood fuel. These eco–stoves greatly reduce the amount of firewood used while emitting less smoke and carbon dioxide than the traditional stoves. Additionally, in these 11 schools, solar system panels are provided, and climate education talks are hosted for students and teachers by the RiseUp Movement.
