Sally McKenney

Cookbook Author, Baker

I started my blog after college, mostly to share the recipes I baked on the weekends. I was in my mid-twenties, working in finance, and felt a little lost in both my career and my life. I tapped into my many fond memories being in the kitchen when I was younger, picked up a camera (and taught myself how to use it!), and the rest is history. In 2013 I made Sally’s Baking Addiction my full time job and I’ve published two cookbooks (this one and this one!). For more information about how I began my blog, made it my full time job, and the different techniques I use, feel free to browse my posts about blogging.

My recipes are classic and approachable, inspired by my favorite seasonal flavors and recipes passed down in my family. I also enjoy writing informational posts about different baking techniques and how to use proper ingredients to achieve the best results. I like to share my recipe fails and triumphs so readers can learn along the way with me. I want everyone reading to feel like they can be a master in the kitchen. Not only that, I want everyone to enjoy the experience of making really really good food.

I grew up and currently live in Philadelphia. I graduated from Loyola University with a degree in marketing and met my husband, Kevin, while living in Baltimore. Our dog Jude is a 115 lb German Shepherd/Rottweiler rescue. Jude loves peanut butter almost as much as I do. Almost.

My favorite dessert is apple pie, my favorite TV show is Friends (and I annoyingly quote every episode as I watch), I love to run and practice yoga, and the only books I read are cookbooks. I also type run-on sentences and enjoy staying in my pajamas as long as possible.

I’m a self-taught, mom-taught, grandma-taught baker. I’m also a laundry-avoider, but that’s a whole other story. Follow my adventures on my photography blog and find me on Instagram to see what I’m up to everyday.
