Growing up in an abusive home enduring years of emotional, physical and sexual abuse, Debi often wondered, Where is God? Does He hear my prayers? And if so, does He really care? Yet, hers is not a story of defeat or bitterness, but of victory! Debi will inspire you with her zest for life, her deep and abiding faith, and her passion for helping others as she shares her remarkable story of a life truly redeemed.

Debi has dedicated the last twenty years training those in the ministry and other helping professions to recognize the dynamics and effects of domestic violence, substance abuse and childhood abuse, and providing guidance in how to work with groups or individuals impacted by such abuse. She has also assisted numerous organizations, community and faith-based, implement programs, policies and procedures to prevent abuse from occurring. Since 1992 Debi has facilitated support groups for adult survivors of childhood abuse through her nonprofit organization, Caring Hearts, Inc.

Debi earned her Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas. She has served with the Army Family Advocacy Program and National Children's Advocacy Center. She is also a Certified Lay Speaker and Regional Trainer with the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church, a member of Toastmasters International, and has held international certification as a Substance Abuse Prevention Manager.
