Data Scientist & Pioneer in Wireless Communications Technology; Founder & CEO of Solve For You

Dr. Deborah Berebichez is the first Mexican woman to graduate from Stanford University with a Ph.D. in physics. She has made her mark as a Chief Data Scientist at Metis, a leading data science training provider. Currently, Berebichez is the founder and CEO of Solve For You, a team of experts using data, statistics, and computational solutions to help companies succeed in the digital era. Apart from her work in data science, Berebichez is also known for her contributions to television, particularly as the co-host of Discovery Channel’s "Outrageous Acts of Science" for eleven seasons. Here, she leverages her background in physics to elucidate the science behind extraordinary engineering feats.

Berebichez's ventures also extend to the finance industry, where she excelled as an equity risk analyst for MSCI Barra and as Vice President of Risk Analytics at Morgan Stanley. She is a member of the respected American Physical Society, and her scholarly contributions include articles on enhancing the structural design of optical, mechanical, and electrical systems to mitigate signal transmission loss.

Her media presence is robust, encompassing appearances on television platforms such as Discovery Channel, NatGeo, and CNN, as well as in publications like Forbes, Wired, and The New York Times. She has also been a regular speaker at skeptic conferences, including the Northeast Conference on Science and Skepticism and The Amaz!ng Meeting. In addition, Berebichez co-starred in National Geographic's "Humanly Impossible" and featured in the television show "You Have Been Warned."

Berebichez's passion for science education and outreach has earned her recognition from major organizations and outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Oprah, and TED. Notably, she was named the IF/THEN Ambassador by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for her role in inspiring and empowering young women to pursue science and improve STEM education globally. Berebichez's efforts in this area are further demonstrated by her role as the 2013 Global Ambassador for the Technovation Challenge, an international competition encouraging girls and young women to develop science-based mobile applications.

Beyond her significant professional accomplishments, Berebichez has been honored with several awards such as the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) STAR Award and the Top Latina Tech Blogger recognition by the Association of Latinos in Social Media (LATISM). Furthermore, she is a John C. Whitehead Fellow at the Foreign Policy Association.

Concluding her formal education, Berebichez completed two postdoctoral fellowships at Columbia University's Applied Math and Physics Department and at NYU's Courant Institute for Mathematical Sciences.
