Deepak Bhargava is executive director of the Center for Community Change, where he has sharpened focus on grassroots community organizing as the central strategy for social justice and on public policy change to improve poor people’s lives. He conceived the center’s work on immigration reform and spearheaded the Community Voting Project. Bhargava has written for The Washington Post, The Nation, The American Prospect, and The New York Times. He has testified before Congress on over 20 occasions. Bhargava serves on the boards of the Discount Foundation, Open Society Foundations, Bauman Foundation, and the National Immigration Forum Action Fund.
