DENISE RUSH DESIGNER | EDUCATOR | LECTURER

Before going into private practice, Denise held an academic appointment as the Visiting Interior Designer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, was a director at the international architectural firm of Perkins + Will in Chicago, a project manager at the international architectural firm of the SmithGroup in Detroit, and design resource director of WorkPlace Integrators in Detroit. Denise has designed and managed the build-out of millions of square feet of space for corporate office, schools & universities, hospitals, municipalities, and large scale residences.

Denise works closely with her corporate clients to strategically leverage their built environments to achieve their mission and integrate their brand into their physical space.

A long time educator, Denise presently serves as an adjunct professor of Interior Architecture in the Art + Design department of Columbia College Chicago, the largest and most diverse private arts and media college in the nation. She was formerly adjunct faculty at Harrington College of Design, the International Academy of Design & Technology, and the Illinois Institute of Art.

Denise is keenly interested in also educating the consumer on the benefits of using a professional designer to prevent costly mistakes in creating the home of their dream. Denise holds private workshops and shopping trips at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart.

Denise has spoken at The American Society of Interiors, Interiors 08 National Conference in New Orleans, on “Bridging the Gap: Diversity in Interiors”; The Black Women’s Expo in Chicago, on” Making Your Home A Sanctuary”, and in Ms. Rush was a panelist at NeoCon 2010 in Chicago on “Design Interchange – An Avant-Garde Approach to Success.” Denise holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University and is a candidate for a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies in Chicago. Denise is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
