Denny Kolsch

Drug and Addiction Abuse Recovery Advocate; Activist with TWLOHA-How to Write Love On Her Arms

After years of struggling with, anxiety, depression, and a heroin addiction, Denny Kolsch finally found support from a compassionate community at the age of 22. Today, he is going on his 10th year of sobriety. Kolsch joined the non-profit group To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) in 2008 to share his remarkable story and help students across the country realize that rescue and recovery is possible.

Two out of three people with depression do not get help, and the third leading cause of death among 18-24 year olds is suicide. TWLOHA helps those who are suffering from depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicidal tendencies by spreading the message of hope, support, and love. It has the largest online audience of any non-profit on Facebook, has responded to roughly 170,000 messages from more than 100 countries, and has donated over $1 million to treatment and recovery organizations.

Kolsch graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Humanities and Philosophy and recently completed a M.A. in Mental Health Counseling. He now practices as a therapist in Central Florida. With experience on both sides of the recovery process and a deliberate, relatable approach, Kolsch isa speaker dedicated to carrying the message and mission of TWLOHA to university and college campuses.
