Derek is proof that taking risks, is really what life is all about. Through dramatic life situations that happened early in his life while growing up in small town Iowa, he learned valuable lessons about motivation, and living life to its fullest. After graduating from Northern Iowa and working behind a desk in Minneapolis for a few years, he quit the full-time job shortly after getting married to chase his dream of becoming a professional golfer. Now...that is what he is. He is chasing the coat tails of the PGA Tour after getting to the Second Stage of Qualifying School for the PGA. He is still stays motivated while on The NGA Tour and qualifying for Nationwide Tour events.

It is a life of no regrets, and that is how Derek wants people to see him. Authentic. I want to live a life that demands an explanation.
