Seattle Seahawks Fullback; The Only Hearing-impaired Player Currently in the NFL; The Only Legally Deaf Player in the History of the League

Derrick Coleman is a veteran NFL fullback and All-Pac 12 Conference performer. He is playing in his second season in the National Football League with the Seattle Seahawks. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings. He is an outstanding special teams player and can also play running back.

Derrick played collegiately at the University of California-Los Angeles. He earned Second Team All-Pac 12 Conference honors as a special teams player following his senior season. He won the Tommy Prothro Award as the team’s most outstanding special teams player and the Paul I. Wellman Memorial Award for all-around excellence.

Derrick played for Troy High School in Fullerton, California and was ranked as the second best fullback prospect in the nation by ESPN. He broke the school records for touchdowns, points scored and offensive yards in a single season. He was diagnosed as legally deaf at the age of three and is able to read lips to discern audibles called at the line of scrimmage.
