Derek Flanzraich is an entrepreneur on a mission to help the world think about health in a healthier way. He is the founder and CEO of Greatist, a media startup working to build the first truly-trusted consumer-facing health brand for this generation. In other words, he’s ultimately working to make healthy living cool. Greatist is currently the fastest-growing media site in the digital health space, with well over 4 million unique visitors per month.

Derek was previously with Clicker (acquired by CBS) and NBC Universal’s Digital Entertainment Strategy & Operations. He graduated with an A.B. from Harvard College. He has been building brands and organizations that last since he founded The Wizard Chronicles, a student life periodical, in fifth grade. (He still really loves wizards.) To date, Greatist has raised over $2 million in financing from private investors, been named a runner-up to WebMD as the Best Health Website on the Internet in 2013’s Webby Awards, and syndicates content with The Washington Post, USA Today, and TIME Magazine. It has also been named one of the 15 Best Startups to Work For in America by Business Insider/Turnstone.

Since launching Greatist in 2011, Derek has been widely quoted as a digital health expert and an up-and-coming entrepreneur in top-tier consumer and business publications including Forbes, Lifehacker, Mashable, Inc, Fitness Magazine, New York Enterprise Report, Upstart Business Journal, TechCrunch, The Next Web, Yahoo! Small Business, GigaOm, and many more. In addition, he has appeared on several major local and national television shows including The Weather Channel, G4TV Attack of the Show, CBS New York’s Live from the Couch, Fox News Health, Huffington Post Live, Mixergy, and more.

He has held speaking engagements at Harvard Business School, SXSW, Affiliate Summit, Everywhere Else Cincinnati, Oliver Wyman's Healthcare Innovation Summit, and many others. He was named a Healthcare Transformer by StartUp Health in 2012.
