Dermot Murnaghan presents Sky News Today every weekday.He joined Sky News in October 2007 from the BBC where he has fronted BBC Breakfast since September 2002. During this time he also presented Eggheads and Treasure Hunt for the BBC.Before joining the BBC he spent more than a decade presenting ITV's national news bulletins from London.After graduating with an MA in History from Sussex University, Dermot completed a postgraduate course in Journalism at City University. He worked as a trainee reporter on local newspapers before joining Channel 4.He was a regular presenter on Channel 4 News and from 1989 anchored the channel's daily breakfast programme, which he fronted throughout the Gulf War. He also worked on Channel 4's Business Programme, between 1984 and 1988, and for the European Business Channel in Switzerland before being recalled to front ITN's World News on Channel 4 Daily.Before moving to the BBC Dermot presented ITV's Evening News, as well as the Most Wanted series on LWT and Sieges. Between 1993 and 1997 he presented the channel's weekly current affairs series Big Story.In 2000 Dermot won the prestigious Newscaster of the Year award from the Television & Radio Industries Club (TRIC) and in 1999 the Royal Television Society's Interviewer of The Year Award for his interview with Peter Mandelson over the Geoffrey Robinson loan affair. This resulted in Mandelson's resignation from the Cabinet.He was part of ITN's 2001 General Election team and has reported from war zones across the world.
