Devin Booker
Professional Basketball Player for the Phoenix Suns; Two-Time Olympic Gold Medalist for Team USA; Founder, Starting Five & Global Ambassador for the Special Olympics
Devin Booker is a professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Booker started his journey to professional basketball by playing for the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity basketball teams during his freshman year at Grandville High School in Michigan. He later played high school basketball at Moss Point High School in Mississippi, where he honed his skills under the guidance of his father, former basketball player Melvin Booker. His remarkable performance during his high school years earned him scholarship offers from several prestigious colleges and the title of the South Mississippi Player of the Year during his sophomore year.
Booker played college basketball for one season with the Kentucky Wildcats before being selected by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2015 NBA draft as the 13th overall pick. In his professional career, Booker has set and broken numerous records. In 2017, he became the youngest player to score over 60 points in a game, finishing with a Suns franchise record 70 against the Boston Celtics. His performance led to four NBA All-Star selections, two All-NBA memberships, and the NBA Three-Point Contest championship in 2018. He continued to excel, leading the Suns to the NBA Finals in 2021 and earning a place on the All-NBA First Team in the following season.
In addition to his professional accolades, Booker has also made significant contributions to international basketball. He won gold medals as part of the 2020 and 2024 U.S. Olympic teams. Off the court, Booker runs his own charitable foundation, the Starting Five, which grants five nonprofit organizations $100,000 each and plans to donate $500,000 to Phoenix charities per year for five years. Booker also represented his charitable endeavors as a global ambassador to the Special Olympics in 2020.
