Devin Robinson is an economics Professor at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia and the Founder of Going Against the Grain Group (parent company of Going Against the Grain Publications and Going Against the Grain Development Institute). He is a native of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands and the great-great grandson of a runaway slave. He was allowed to join the U.S. Army at age 17 following graduation since he was faced with a string of felony charges and a near-death police brutality incident. Now, as a veteran Non-Commissioned officer Airborne Paratrooper, he has dedicated life to ensuring our youth stand clear of the near fatal decisions he made.

He continues to make countless speaking appearances on topics such as parenting, business, motivation, leadership, and the black reconciliation. As a Pulitzer prize-winning newspaper columnist, social activist, and author of Blacks: From the Plantation to the Prison, Raising a Rebel Son, and Rebuilding the Black Infrastructure: Making America a Colorless Nation his perspective and assistance is frequently tapped by organizations that aim to empower and educate Blacks.

While he owned a chain of beauty supply stores, his appearance in the straight to DVD Documentary, The Black Hair and authoring the best-selling book, Taking it Back: How to Become a Successful Black Beauty Supply Store Owner earned him an appearance in Ebony magazine as a Beauty Supply Ambassador. He continues to work in this industry helping Blacks become educated on store ownership and founded the Beauty Supply University.

Professor Devin is a radio commentator for Cleveland News and Talk 1490AM and Augusta Gospel WKZK 103.7FM. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Management and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He is in the dissertation stage of earning a Doctoral Degree in Business Marketing.
